Night Out Outfits

Hello re:formers! This blog post is coming from re:form team member: Carter, and I’m going to touch on the topic of “Night Out Outfits” and give you guys some tips and examples of thrifting finds I’ve found for some of my most memorable evenings/nights.

I am going to be starting with a mini guide on thrifting for night-out outfit types, so if you are an experienced thrifter, scroll down to “Show & Tell”. Some advice on finding some really cute, unique outfits for a night out is to start with planning. What is the occasion? A birthday party (yours, a friends), New Year's Eve celebration, wedding, work Christmas party; you want to wear something you think will fit the occasion. Disclaimer, this does not mean you have to wear what everyone else is planning to wear. Personally, I never let what others plan to wear determine how far I’ll go with my outfit but keeping in mind of what the event theme is, definitely helps me stay on track of what I am looking for in what looks like a sea of clothing and fabrics.

Once you know a little bit better on the occasion you want to dive deeper and figure out what kind of outfit piece you want to go for. I usually aim to find some pieces that match and appear as some kind of outfit “set”. When thrifting for a night out, it can be overwhelming with how many different outfits you can create; so I always keep my own closet and what I already own in mind. The greatest thing you'll ever learn when it comes to shopping for one specific occasion is to make sure another article of clothing you own will go with it. You don’t want to get caught up at the store and end up purchasing something with nothing to go with it (especially when it comes to footwear). Also, it’s a good idea to keep in mind the ability to wear the outfit again. It can be helpful to get something that can be used to create different looks.

I really enjoy finding and trying things that I see someone on social media, pull off. There are so many clothing items and outfits I have fallen in love with in the past due to the fact that I thought it would look cute on someone else so I advise you to give it a try. I definitely take greater risks when it comes to thrifting for an event because those occassions are a perfect excuse to go all out. I don’t necessarily just mean dresses or skirts. I mean all types of clothing, even men's pants with a cute top or a jumpsuit. Anything that makes me feel unique, makes me feel good about myself and also anything that I feel comfortable in for whatever the night out could throw at me.

Plan ahead, take risks and have fun with it. There’s been plenty of times where finding the perfect outfit for the night made a potentially bad night good.
